Keeping a Simple Bird Care Journal

A bird journal does not need to be elaborate to be useful. A few consistent notes and photos can make changes easier to spot and vet conversations easier to support.

What to record

  • Weight if you monitor it
  • Appetite changes
  • Droppings that look noticeably different
  • Behavior shifts, especially sudden ones
  • Photos that show posture, feathers, feet, or setup changes

How to keep it manageable

  1. Write briefly
  2. Date everything
  3. Keep only photos that tell you something
  4. Use one place for the notes so they are easy to find later
