Smarter Enrichment for Birds Without Overcomplicating It

Cognitive enrichment sounds technical, but most of it comes down to giving birds safe, interesting things to explore and figure out at their own pace.

Good enrichment patterns

  • Easy foraging challenges that can gradually get harder
  • Safe object changes that invite curiosity
  • Opportunities to choose between perches, toys, or routes
  • Short problem-solving tasks that do not create frustration
Important: enrichment should not feel like a test. If the bird keeps failing or avoiding it, simplify the task.
