Why “Adventure Activities With Birds” Is Usually the Wrong Framing

What feels adventurous to humans often feels risky or exhausting to birds. Outings need to be judged by the bird’s welfare, not the owner’s idea of enrichment.

Better questions to ask

  • Does the bird cope well with transport and strange settings?
  • Is the outing calm, short, and reversible?
  • Would the bird be better off staying home instead?
  • Are you doing this for the bird, or for the story of doing it?
Important: birds do not need “adventures” to have good lives. They need safety, engagement, and manageable novelty.
